If you wake up in a hospital orthopedic ward, it will be little comfort to know that Bikers are responsible for less than one out of every four wrecks involving a motorcycle.  We all must understand what causes these wreck and what we can do to minimize the chances of being in one.  And if we are in one, what we can do to minimize the damage.

Motorcycle wrecks don’t just happen to the other guy.  In May of 2009 USA Today reported that "Pentagon brass got an eye-opener when they examined 2008 casualty figures: More Marines died stateside on motorcycles than were killed in Iraq or Afghanistan"  (Click for more on Motorcycle fatalities.)

A discussion of motorcycle wrecks would not be complete without talking about motorcycle insurance.  You can find motorcycle insurance tips at our insurance link.

We have little direct control over the major cause of motorcycle wrecks – Car drivers that fail to notice us. One thing we can all do is urge our legislators to increase funding for Motorcycle awareness programs.  In England they have a very effective TV campaign aimed at getting motorists to look for Bikes on the road.
